Sweet 'n Sour Meatballs

Sweet 'n Sour Meatballs

This recipe is one me and my mother experimented with one day over the summer last year to try to make our own version of sweet 'n sour meatballs. It's one of our family's favorite meals. It's simple, easy, and quick - which we like.

Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/3 cup minced onions
1 egg
2 Tablespoons snipped parsley
1 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Mix above ingredients, shape into walnut size balls and brown in 1/2 stick melted butter or margarine.

Sweet 'n Sour Sauce:

1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon celery seed
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
a dash of pepper

Combine all ingredients for the sauce. Heat to boiling. Pour over meatballs. Heat for a few minutes. Can be served alone or in a sandwich.

Everyone seems to like meatballs. This is a great idea to do with kids, especially because they can be made ahead of time.
