No Fuss Apple Pie Kids Can Make
by: Clarissa the Mom Chef

Hi Cynthia!

The key to making an easy apple pie that is tasty is to first find a good store-bought crust. Preparing homemade crust can make pie-making difficult, so if you buy a quality pre-made pie crust, the rest is easy!

No Fuss Apple Pie Kids Can Make

Ingredients:

2 9-inch pie crusts
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (golden delicious or Jonathan work well)
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
3 tablespoons butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425F (220C) degrees. In a bowl, mix together dry ingredients. Add apples and stir.

Place the first pie crust in a greased pie pan. Press the crust edges down. Then spoon apple mixture into the pie crust and dot with butter (place small pieces of butter evenly all around the top of the apple mixture). Place the second crust over the top. Make neat slits over the top so the steam can escape while baking. Seal the top and bottom crust by pinching all around the edges. Cover the edge of the crust with some foil so it won't burn.

Bake in hot oven for 45 minutes until the crust is a beautiful golden brown and the apple juice begins to bubble. Remove from oven, cool and eat (serve hot or cold). Enjoy with whipped cream or ice cream on top.

Pear or Apple Pies Really Easy
by: Rachel in NZ

Hi, you could try these pies. I've only made them with Pears but I'm sure Apples would work fine.

Pears (or Apples)
Ready Rolled Puff Pastry
Raspberry Ice Cream Sauce

Defrost Pastry and set aside while you prepare the Pears (or Apples).

Core Pears (or Apples). Don't core right through bottom (if you do make a plug out of core piece).

Cut Pastry Sheet from centre outward in a spiral. Sit Pear(or Apple)in centre of Pastry spiral and pull Pastry up and cover the Pear (or Apple). Don't cover the top of the core hole.

Cool Pastry covered Pears (or Apples) til cold.
Brush with egg and cook at 200C (400F) degrees for about 15 - 20 minutes (til Pastry is cooked, not burnt!). Then squirt Raspberry Sauce in the hole.

Serve with Cream or Ice Cream. Try different flavour sauces. Lemon Curd with a bit of Ginger is nice in the Pears for adults, or even a bit of Rum in Chocolate Sauce.

Have fun.
