White Scones

by Sinéad, age 11
(County Wexford, Ireland)

These scones are lovely with strawberry jam!

You will need:

4 fluid ounces of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 fluid ounce of sugar
1 fluid ounce of coconut
2 fluid ounces margarine
1 egg

Preheat the oven to 180C (350F) degrees.

First you weigh flour and then put it in your mixing bowl, then you add baking powder. Measure out margarine and knead the margarine into the baking powder and flour.

When you have that done weigh sugar and coconut and put it in the mixing bowl. Then break egg and beat the egg and the pour about half a cup of milk into it. Pour into the mixing bowl and stir until the mixture is thick.

Grease an oven tray and spoon the scone mixture onto it. You should get about eight scones.

Enjoy!
