Gerlach Goulash

by Sequoia Cougar
(Wilsonville, Oregon, US)

This recipe takes maybe 1/2 an hour tops, and my kids loved it. This was an experiment that went right, and now it has passed down to another generation, they have now passed it down to their kids.

Ingredients:

1 pound of lean ground beef
1/2 pound of Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
1 can of stewed tomatoes (Italian if you want.)
3 cups of mashed potatoes (or 4 large potatoes to mash)
1/2 cup sour cream

Cook beef until done (add in onions if you want).
Peel and chop up potatoes then put in boiling salted water until soft. Add butter, milk, sour cream and mash until smooth.

Then add meat and can of tomatoes. Mix until blended fully. Set under broiler until the top of the potatoes are browned and crispy. Serve with lettuce wedge and Thousand Island dressing.

You can add jack or cheddar cheese if you want...this is optional.
