It's great fun to celebrate the autumn season and Halloween. I am often asked, "How do I pick the right pumpkin?" Well, here are a few tips:

Choosing the Right Pumpkin

1. Try to go direct to a pumpkin patch to buy your pumpkin.
2. Buy your pumpkin 1-2 days before Halloween (pumpkins don't last long).
3. Select a pumpkin with a fairly flat bottom and a tall/big stem.
4. Avoid pumpkins with cracks, bruises, or a broken stem.

Don't throw out the pumpkin seeds. Roast them and munch on them or toss them in a salad. Boil the pumpkin flesh and make a pumpkin recipe such as pumpkin soup.

Try this easy pumpkin recipe:

Yummy Pumpkin Dip

2 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 large 30-ounce can of pumpkin
4 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons ginger

Whip together and serve in hollowed out small pumpkin. Serve on a plate covered with black licorice "worms" or any Halloweenish candy such as candy corn. On the side place ginger snaps for dipping.
