Shortening Substitute for Icing Recipe
by: Clarissa the Mom Chef

Hi Karen!

You can substitute butter or margarine (same amount) for shortening in an icing recipe. However, if you are making white icing, the butter or margarine will make the icing yellow.

Good luck with your icing!
