Microwave Recipes for Kids

Microwave recipes are great for when you are in a rush or if you are a kid and you aren't allowed to use the stove or oven. Here are some microwave recipes that I think you will find quick, easy and delicious! Quick Stuffed Breakfast Potatoes

Everyone loves potatoes! They are especially nice when you stuff them and put some melted cheese on top. When I cook them in the oven, it takes me at least an hour to cook the potatoes. Here is a quick, easy way you can make them in the microwave. It only takes about 10 minutes and tastes delicious!

Ingredients:

1 large potato
1 slice of ham
1 small mushroom
chives (dried or fresh)
2 eggs
shredded cheese
anything else that you want to put in

Method:

Wash and scrub a large potato. Make sure that you poke some holes in the potato or it will make a mess in your microwave.

Put the potato on a plate and put it in a 1200 Watt microwave for 6 minutes.

When the potato is ready, leave it to cool for a few minutes.

While it is cooling, cut up the ham slice into small cubes. Next, wash the top of the mushroom by getting your fingers damp and rubbing the top side. Then cut off the stem and cut the mushroom into cubes about the same size as the ham.

Cut up the chives so that they are about as long as your fingernail. They give the stuffed potatoes a nice flavor. If you want, you can add some scrambled egg to put on top of the stuffed potatoes or anything else but make sure that you don't let the potatoes overflow!

If you choose to use scrambled eggs, scramble 2 eggs in a small bowl and cover the bowl with a saucer or small plate. Cook in the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes stirring once or twice to make sure that it is cooked all the way through.

When the potato has cooled, chop it in half and scoop out the middle very carefully. Once this is done, stuff each half with an equal proportion of ham, mushroom and chives. For the toppings, add the scrambled eggs and shred some cheese.

Put the potato back in the microwave for about 10 seconds or until the cheese is melted. Hope you like it!



Easy Microwave Omelette

Omelettes are nice to have for a quick breakfast or lunch with toast or a croissant. You can also make them in the microwave! Hope you enjoy this microwave recipe.

Ingredients:

2 eggs
1 mushroom
1 small onion
1 small potato
a few slices of leeks (optional)
some fresh or dried rosemary

Method:

Scramble 2 eggs in a microwave safe bowl.

Cut off the stem of a mushroom and then cut it into small squares.

Cut up a small onion.

Wash and scrub a very small potato and slice it up. You can peel the skin off if you want but I think it tastes better with the skin on. Cut up the potato and put it into a microwave safe bowl.

Put the potato in the microwave for about 5 minutes.

Mix into the egg the mushroom, onion, cooked potato, leeks and rosemary.

Pour the mix onto a microwave safe plate and set it in the microwave for about 1 minute. Take it out and flip it over set it back in the microwave for 1/2 a minute.

Take it out and enjoy.



Microwave Bread Pizzas

I love to make this recipe on the weekends for lunch. It is fun to experiment with different toppings each time. I hope you like it!

Ingredients:

3 slices of white tiger bread*
pizza sauce
pineapple
anchovies (optional)
2 black or green olives
a few pieces of ham
shredded cheese

Method:

Lay out three pieces of white tiger bread onto a microwave safe tray.

Spread some pizza sauce onto each of the slices of bread. Put pineapple, chopped up anchovies (optional), olives, cubed ham and finally shredded cheese on top.

Heat up in the microwave for 1 minute. YUM YUM :-)

*Tiger bread is also known as 'Dutch crunch' or dragonette bread. You can also use French bread or just regular white bread.



Microwave Carrot Cake

I love to make carrot cake, but it takes so long to cook in the oven! So I came up with this recipe to cook for a shorter period of time in the microwave and it tastes just as good.

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
1 cup cooking oil
2 shredded carrots
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Method:

In a mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine wet ingredients, vanilla, eggs, cooking oil and shredded carrots.

Combine both of the mixtures and if you want, add in some chopped walnuts. Cook in the microwave on Medium for about ten minutes or until skewer comes out clean.

Ice with Cream Cheese Frosting.



Cream Cheese Frosting

1 6 ounce package cream cheese
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup butter
4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

Beat together cream cheese, vanilla, and butter until fluffy. Slowly add powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time until the frosting is the right thickness to spread on cake. Keep in the refrigerator until serving.
