Kids Party Recipes

Try these kids party recipes for birthday parties, tea parties, or holiday parties. Kids will love these party food recipes. They're easy to prepare and kid-pleasing.

Marshmallow Jam Squares

1/2 cup wheat cereal flakes, crushed
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup dried coconut flakes
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter, melted
2/3 cup strawberry or raspberry jam
16-ounce bag pink and white marshmallows

Preheat oven to 350F (180C) degrees. Grease square baking pan and line with baking paper. In a bowl, mix together cereal, sugar, coconut, and flour. Make a well in the center, then pour the melted butter and stir until well mixed. Pour mixture into pan and press down with your fingers until the base is even. Bake in oven for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Remove base from oven and spread jam over top while still warm. Decorate by placing marshmallows (pink-white-pink-white) on top of base.

Bake for about 5-7 minutes until the marshmallows soften and begin to stick together. Cool, cut into squares, and serve warm or refrigerate and serve later.


Charlotte's Perfect Shortbread

2 sticks of cubed butter
1 cup of powdered sugar(icing sugar) 1eatspoon cinnamon
dash of milk

Preheat oven to 380F degrees. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and combine. Mix with hands until a dough is formed. Place in plastic wrap and put in fridge for 30 minutes. Remove from fridge and cut into shapes (depending on your party theme). Cook for 20 minutes. Decorate if you like. Recipe submitted by Charlotte, age 13, from Australia.


Sultana Scones

4 cups self-rising flour
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup sultanas (raisins)
1/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
milk

Preheat oven to 375F degrees or 190C. Rub the butter into the flour until mixture resembles bread crumbs. Add in the sugar and sultanas and stir. Next add salt and the bicarbonate of soda, mixing it in milk until it becomes a soft dough.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface about 1/2 inch thick. cut out some circles and leave to rise on a lightly buttered tray.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until light brown. Enjoy with thick cream and jam! Recipe submitted by Kimberley Anne, age 12 from the United Kingdom.


Easy Fudge

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

In a saucepan bring all ingredients to a boil except for powdered sugar, walnuts, and vanilla. Boil for 1 minute. Stir in powdered sugar, walnuts, and vanilla. Pour into greased 8"x 8" pan. Let harden until firm. Slice into squares. This recipe was submitted by Erin from the United States.
