Easy Crock Pot Recipes

This recipe was submitted by Carroll who says,"My kids love this recipe because they can pick out the ingredients and make it, almost, by themselves. It's called "Root Soup" and it's made in a crock pot. Take the kids to the store with you. It's important to let them pick the 'roots.'"

Root Soup

3 potatoes
3 carrots
3 turnips
1 bunch of green onions
1 leek
1 pound stew meat
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon parsley
4 tablespoons butter
water
... and a crock pot.

Kids carefully peel the veggies while the parent cuts them into large pieces. Have the kids put everything into the crock pot. Add enough water to cover the veggies and turn pot on low. Cook for 6-8 hours until meat is tender.

Make this recipe in the morning and after only 15 minutes of preparation, it will be cooked by dinner.
